How to Make McDonald’s Inspired Griddled Maple-Flavoured Pancake Buns

{{totalReview}}
The secret to a perfect McGriddles pancake bun is a golden cup of maple syrup. You see, the floral sweetness of maple melting into doughy bun batter is the thing that makes this cult breakfast burger so loved. But that’s not complete though, you’ll need to whip up (very easily), the egg and sausage patty combo for the inside.

Instructions

  1. Making the maple syrup bits

    • In a pot over medium heat, add maple syrup and allow it to form bubbles. Make sure there are bubbles if not it means that it is not hot enough.
    • Once you start to see big bubbles, stir once and leave it to continue boiling for about 10 mins (or if you have candy thermometer, leave it to about 127°c)
    • Remove from pan and carefully pour it on a baking tray lined with baking paper.
    • Using a spatula spread the maple syrup mixture well. Set aside.
    • Once the syrup is hardened. Break it into small pieces. Set aside.

  3. Cooking the griddled pancake buns

    • Heat up a pan and add 1 tbsp of butter.
    • Grease a little bit of butter on the inside of a ring mould.
    • Place the ring mould on the centre of the pan and leave it to heat up a bit.
    • Using a ladle, add pancake batter into the round ring mould about half way of the ring mould.
    • Add few pieces of maple crystals into it. Top with a spoonful more of pancake batter.
    • Leave to bubble before carefully flipping it over.
    • Let it cook for another 2-4 minutes until the sides brown a little.
    • Remove from pan and place it on a plate for immediate use with an egg and sausage patty combo
