  • Yields 6 rolls
  • 1 can tuna flakes (drained)

  • ½ tbsp chilli bean paste 

  • 1 tbsp japanese kewpie mayonnaise 

  • 1 bunch spring onions (cut to 4” strips)

  • 4” carrot (julienned)

  • handful of salad leaves 

  • handful of coriander leaves 

  • 1 tsp cracked black pepper 

  • 3 tbsp toasted sesame seeds

Canned Spicy Tuna Rice Rolls

Here’s something you can put together quickly with items that I encourage you keep in your pantry if you don’t already have them! Perfect for a light meal or snack that doesn’t require any cooking. You can’t go wrong with some sweet Japanese mayonnaise with flaky tuna from the can for a well-rounded sweet savory flavour. Pair with your favourite soya sauce with bird eye chillies for that extra kick!

Instructions

  1. Prepare the tuna

    • In a bowl, mix the tuna flakes, chilli bean paste, mayonnaiseand black pepper, and set aside


  2. Prepare the rice paper

    • Prepare each rice paper by dipping them in water to soften


  3. Prepare the rice roll

    • Lay each hydrated rice paper onto a flat surface and place the fresh vegetables on the bottom half closest to you, 1 inch away from the border
    • Place 1.5 tbsp of tuna flakes above that
    • Fold up the edge closest to you, then bring the sides together to seal the edges, and continue rolling upwards to close up the roll
    Prepare the rice roll


Garnish and Serve!

Sprinkle toasted sesame seeds over the top of the rolls for texture and colour
