Late Night Guide: Bandung, Indonesia

Amazing food, interesting places to be at, we put together a list of what you can do in Bandung, complete with a trip to a spa resort.

Did you know that there’s a Paris outside of France? Well, many say it lies in Indonesia, in the third largest city of Bandung. That’s because the city is framed by stunning volcanic peaks, and its metropolis designed like Parisian-architecture. But you’ll find more surprises in its thriving local food scene and good fashion. And like Paris, it gets more charming at night. Eat sambal-hot Nasi Bakar at late-night restaurants. Buy local fashion that have made international runways. And there’s more to do in this late-night guide. Read on for things to eat, shop, and do in Bandung, at night.

Dusun Bambu

Jl. Kolonel Masturi KM 11, Cisarua, Lembang, Kertawangi, Cisarua, Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat 40551, Indonesia

Monday to Sunday | 8AM to 9PM

The best views of the island? Some say it’s here at Dusun Bambu Family Leisure Park. It’s perfect for a one-day trip or if you’ve more time, a slow weekend getaway. Surrounded by the scenic Burangrang mountains, you will find a wide array of activities perfect for everyone in the family. After paying a modest fee to enter, you’ll be immersed in nature and soon enough, the only thing you’ll be thinking about is how beautiful the entire place is. A top tip: bring along some warmer clothing. You won’t regret doing so!

Lutung Kasarung is Dusun Bambu’s unique dining experience. Guests dine in a bird cage structure surrounded by foliage and a magnificent view.

Lutung Kasarung’s Nasi Bakar is a dish where the rice is the star. Prepared to a traditional indonesian recipe, spiced rice is wrapped in banana leaves and grilled to take on the flavour of the BBQ and banana leaves. Paired with deep fried chicken, sambal (chili) and a couple of sides, you will be in heaven.

A meal here includes the cost of your food and drinks, and in addition, your “rental” of the bird cage dining room. But it’s worth the price for the experience, particularly during sunset!

Try their flavorful squid with squid ink and rice which is spicy and delicious! They are also famous for their sambal (chili sauce).

The desert selection is broad, and you may just want a piece of everything. Their unique brownies that are both sweet and savoury, like Cheddar Choco Raisin or Choco Lemon Cheese. Matcha fans should definitely try the Green Tea Brownie with Walnuts with a glorious green tea and white chocolate sauce.

Kartika Sari

Jalan Haji Akbar No.4, Pasir Kaliki, Cicendo, Pasir Kaliki, Cicendo, Kota Bandung, Jawa Barat 40171, Indonesia

Monday to Sunday | 7AM – 8PM

Kartika Sari is an essential stop in Bandung. Their impressive variety of traditional snacks, biscuits and kuehs (traditional cakes and pastries) are perfect as gifts for those back home. If you have children, there is a playground where they will be entertained while you browse the delights.

Various flavours of Kueh Lapis (layer cake) are available and we highly recommend the prune cake. Their signature Pisang Bollen, a pastry stuffed with banana and cheese that will change your life!
