500 ml whipping cream
1 can of condensed milk (about 392g)
1 tsp orange extract
zest of 1 orange - The orange can easily be swapped out for lemon or another citrus fruit, for a sharper flavour.
1 tsp Chinese five spice powder - Five spice powder can be replaced with another spice, such as cinnamon, ground ginger or nutmeg –though you should use less of these.
2 tbsp rum (optional) - Besides adding flavour, the alcohol helps the ice cream maintain a soft, scoopable texture. If you don’t consume alcohol, you can either leave out the rum or replace it with liquid glycerin.
pinch of salt
| No-churn ice cream tends to be slightly sweeter than regular ice cream, so using the five spice and orange flavours helps to cut through it. If you want to experiment, choose flavourings that will go well with the sweet taste.
